ALL THINGS SEAWEED

A conversation on ocean health and innovative farming featuring Belinda Baggs and Scott Elliott.

We crafted this event to also be a ‘launch party’ to support the Bells Beach Film Festival. The film is a conversation between local surf activist Belinda Baggs and local seaweed farmer Scott Elliott from Immersion Group as Belinda bodysurfs a local break. We held a Q and A with Scott, all about the miracles of seaweed in the fight for a sustainable climate and another Q & A with Dr Prue Francis from Deacon talking about Kelp farms and their awesome impact on the climate. The night also featured seaweedy cocktails and snacks, live music from Solar Wax, and a live art installation by local artist Martine Oderio, involving sustainably sourced seaweed from Scott's seaweed farm.

TOO COLD TO SURF

A quirky adventure following the quest for sustainable housing solutions and Passivhaus design.

Anders just wants to go surfing, but his mate Billy's house is too cold. This problem is the core of "Too Cold To Surf - A Sustainable House Doco," a funny and weird film about heating and cooling homes on the Surf Coast. Made by locals, for locals, it’s a quirky comedy/adventure that feels like the Temu version of The Endless Summer 2. The documentary follows Anders on a quest to find solutions for Billy's icey house. He explores a local Passivhaus, checks out different solar panel options, and even dives into the rights renters have when it comes to heating. It’s a great mix of practical advice and silliness, showing how even a house can be made comfortable and energy-efficient. And of course, features a whole lotta surfing. The event night had live music from Solar Wax, Q&A's, raffles, and was a fun, epic night.

Shore to Table - Samesyn 2.0's Guide to Sustainable Dining

Tracking the journey of local ingredients from the shoreline to Graham Jefferies' fine-dining plate.

A film about Samesyn 2.0, a Torquay restaurant aiming to minimise waste in a crazy way while serving some of the finest dining the Surfcoast community has ever had. We invite you to share in the Samesyn 2.0 restaurant experience, highlighting low-waste dining, local sourcing, and the power of community connection. The event night had live music from Final Final, Q&A's, raffles, sauce tasting comp, and everyone was WELL fed from the Samesyn crew with tasters of their epic menu. One of the best.
